A new experience(4年生)

With the start of the new year the 4th graders are experiencing many new aspects of school life that they had never had a chance to before. Along with having classes in a different part of the school and having different teachers, throughout the year they will also take part in a range of other upper-grade events.

Among these new experiences the students got to participate in voting for the new year’s student council. This past Tuesday, 4th through 6th grade students gathered in the assembly hall to listen to this year’s student council candidates give speeches explaining why they should be chosen in an attempt to gain as many votes as possible.

After listening to the speeches, each of the grades returned to their classes to cast their votes regarding who they thought would be the best choice for the job. Since it was the first time 4th graders participated in this process, it was a bit difficult for some to decide who would get their votes, but it was a great opportunity for them to see that their vote has the power to make a change in the school. And for some, only time will tell but this could be the very experience that encourages them to be one of the candidates that runs for a student council position in the coming years and even for higher positions later in their lives.
