Recess times are considered a very special time for our students. It is a time for them to forget about their studies and enjoy themselves with their friends doing what they enjoy. For many of the students this means going outside to move their bodies. Whether it be playing tag or dodgeball, or riding unicycles or practicing the jump rope, our students love to be active to release the stress of studying.

Unfortunately, with the rainy season creeping up on us, there will be days when the students will have to stay inside their classrooms rather than being able to go outside to play. But there is one last hope for students on these rainy days.

If students are lucky, their designated grade level gym day will fall on these rainy days. So, while the rest of the grade levels are playing cards or board games in their classrooms, one lucky grade level will be able to make use of the gym, playing dodgeball, basketball and volleyball.

This past week on a day where the weather had brought buckets of rain, our 4^th graders had such luck. They were able to head to the gym and participated in a large game of dodgeball. A few of the teachers also joined in for an exciting lunch recess that everyone could enjoy.

Hopefully this year’s rainy season won’t disrupt too many of the break times but if it does, we all hope for this special luck to continue.
