We had our first English lesson last week!　The students enjoyed making their English name tags and playing “Simon Says” The students listened to the teacher and copied the actions that the teacher said.　When we started class, many had a nervous look on their face but by the end of the class all students where smiling and laughing.

This may be your child’s first English class but if they can listen without worrying about understanding perfectly, they will slowly make gains in their English confidence.　The English teachers will continue to remind the students throughout their 6 years that making mistakes is always OK and they need to make mistakes to get better at English. If we can all agree on this basic idea, then English will be a fun experience for everyone．

先週、１年生最初の英語の授業がありました！
児童たちは英語の名札に好きな色をぬったり，絵を描いたりしてカラフルにしました。また，「Simon Says」のゲームを楽しみました。児童たちは先生の話を聞いて、先生が言った体の動きをまねしました。はじめの方は、多くの子どもたちは緊張した顔をしていましたが、授業の終わりまでにすべての児童は笑顔でした。
　この機会は、お子さんにとって最初の英語の授業かもしれませんのでご心配かもしれません。子どもたちが英語を完全に理解することを期待するのではなく，しっかり聞くことができれば、彼らはゆっくりと英語に対する不安は消えると思います。英語教師は、間違ってもいいよ、大丈夫！大丈夫！と励まします。英語を上達させるためには間違いは当たり前であることを、6年間を通じて児童に言い聞かせでいきます。「Mistakes are OK!」 です。私たち教師・児童・保護者が，この基本的な考えを理解していただければ，英語は誰にとっても楽しい経験になります。
