Let’s Have Fun Learning English!

Hello! Today’s blog will be about English! Let’s see what the kids in the 75th graduating class are learning this month.

In April, we are reviewing and practicing our phonics sounds. There are many different sounds in English, and the children are doing a great job remembering them. The phonics sounds each have a gesture (ジェスチャー) that you can do to help remember the sound. We use our phonics to help read and write in English.

Classes are getting ready to do a self-introduction (自己紹介). We want the kids to properly say “Hello!” and share their names. The kids will also share more information like their birthdays, where they live, and even what sports they like. For birthdays, we had to practice all of the months (January – December). The students asked each other, “When’s your birthday?” and they had to reply “My birthday is in…” They then asked their friends to sign their paper. We will practice speaking natural and friendly English!

This year’s English teachers for 3rd Grade are Morishita-sensei and Michael-sensei. The students all know Morishita-sensei, but Michael-sensei is a new teacher this year. We will do our best to make English fun and interesting for all of our students!
