Hibarigaoka Postal(2年生)

It’s that time of the year. That time of year when the 2nd grade classes become letter carriers. After investigating the inner workings of the Japan Post office, they return to class and discuss with their classmates how to best run the post office service during the week.

Before the post card start arriving in the postboxes, the students must create their own original post boxes for each class.

When I joined the class, I was so happy to see the students communicating, arguing, and then resolving their issues with each other while enjoying the process of making their own post boxes with little assistance from the teacher. This is such an important part of school life. These life skill lessons will carry with the students for their whole life.

Cross curricular activities are my favorite part of school life at Hibarigaoka elementary school. It allows the students to bring all their different strengths and powers together to accomplish the task at hand.
